However, the course is way overpriced and the three staff members I communicated with were absolute jerks! First, the guy at the counter where you pay overcharged me $9. I nicely informed him that the rate was $25 dollars for me according to the internet and it said riding next to it. He then replied “Well yeah so what, that’s on a computer, but I’m standing right in front of you telling you it is $34 and I know I am right.” I asked him if they were going to fix the website to which he responded “not my job!” Second person I had an issue with was an employee picking up balls on the range. I walked up there and stood there not hitting balls afraid I would hit him. He waved me on and seemed to not be worried about getting hit. So, I hit. One ball was heading his way and I yelled fore and the ball missed him by 10 yards. He then turned to me and held up his hands like a did something wrong even though he was the one standing in the middle of the range and the one that waved me on to hit while he was out there. Lastly, at the turn I went to buy a candy bar and soda. When I got my change I tipped the lady a dollar and she almost sneered at me like that wasn’t anything. No “thank you” or “have a nice day.” She just stared at me and almost looked disgusted. Lady, chill out, I just gave you a 25% tip and you are going to complain. All you did was reach in a fridge. Needless to say the rude staff members ruined an otherwise average course. If I were you, I would not play unless you are desperate and are not expecting a great high-quality course.

  • I agree completely with your assessment. Perhaps you need to print a copy of the computer screen and bring it with you ($25 vs. $34) so you won’t keep having that issue. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result….you have written about the same $9 incident at least twice.

  • The last time i was on this course was 2004 and it seems to have not changed. i think the attitude comes from being in that part of town (sad to say). unfortunitly when you keep giving them money can you really complain. $25 is $25 but i would spend a little extra and get better treatment somewhere else. we play only a few courses around town (none in charlotte) during the year (50 pluse rounds) and are glad to make a 30 minute drive outside the city for great treatment (eagle chase, fox den, green oaks). all are consistantly friendly and glad to have you as a customer vs a round in their books.

  • I actually live on the south side of the town and I can assure you that the arrogant attitude is not present at all the local courses. Just Charlotte Golf Links’ employees have the attitude and it is ironic that the worst course around have the most arrogant staff members. Also, outliar, the first time I went there I did not have a printout of the prices and I should have, so that was my fault for being overcharged. I will take the blame. This time however, I did have a printout which I pulled out to show the guy and he refused to look at it because “he knew the price.” Also, I couldn’t back out cause I had two friends that had already paid and I wasn;t about to abandon them. And about going somewhere else even paying a little more… I usually play Springfield and get a $25 junior rate (nicer course and $9 cheaper) but every now and then you want to mix it up. I havn’t been to Golf Links in a little over 2 months so I decided to give it another chance. That probably won’t be happening again anytime soon.

  • Matt, how old are you if you don’t mind me asking? I see you mention getting a junior rate, so I am just wondering.I think it is completely unacceptable the way you were treated in the pro shop. They should honor the price on their website. The Divide tried to pull that same trick on me but when I told them to pull the website up and look at their prices and that I was happy to take my money elsewhere, they very quickly changed their tune.I strongly recommend you email the General Manager, rricheson@carolinatrail.com, and explain how this has happened twice now and the rude attitude you experienced. As long as you let this guy keep treating you like this, he is going to keep on doing it. Let us know how it goes.

  • I am 17. Trying to play as much as I can before I turn 18 when I have to pay full price. Some courses junior rates are 16 and under however. And the Divide tried to overcharge me the one time I went as well but as soon as I mentioned what it said on the website the guy happily looked it up on his computer and realized I was correct. He gave me the proper rate and even gave me a free bucket of balls for the range. I must say I was impressed and am very likely to return someday instead of going back to Golf Links.
