Beautiful weather, course is very good considering what you pay, staff extremely friendly, but pace of play not good at all. On some tees, two groups were waiting to tee off. One group was slowing the seven or eight groups behind them down but no marshal. After the slow group finished, pace of play for the last 4 or 5 holes was fine. Read The Review

Everything was above average and made for a great day of golf. Excellent value! Greens were slightly marked up; however, it isn' the course's fault. People need to fix their ballmarks! All in all, it is definately worth playing if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive round. Read The Review

Everything greened up nicely, but there were some sucker pin placements today. 7 or 8 were at or within a foot of the peak of two converging slopes and another 5 or 6 were on side slopes. At one point it was like putt-putt. My dad missed a 4 foot uphill putt that rolled about a inch past the hole before proceeding to roll back to almost an identical location of where it was before the shot. :) All in all a great course in great shape. For the $28 clickit coupon right now, you won't regret playing this course. Greens A, fairways B+ or A-, Rough is very thick and can easily lose balls in it, teeboxes B, and sand was only bad thing; it was as hard as a brick. All in all, a great course right now at a great price. Also, they have the new mini-verde greens. They are fast and smooth because they ain't marked up; however don't expect to spin the ball back a lot or stick it real close because they are firm as well (that is why they don't mark up.) I would recommend. Not quite as good as Springfield but pretty similar to Fort Mill condition-wise. Much better than the other Trail courses I have played. Read The Review

 Course itself is decent.
Fairways: B
Greens: C
Tee boxes: D
Sand: C
Rough is fair
However, the course is way overpriced and the three staff members I communicated with were absolute jerks! First, the guy at the counter where you pay overcharged me $9. I nicely informed him that the rate was $25 dollars for me according to the internet and it said riding next to it. He then replied "Well yeah so what, that's on a computer, but I'm standing right in front of you telling you it is $34 and I know I am right." I asked him if they were going to fix the website to which he responded "not my job!" Second person I had an issue with was an employee picking up balls on the range. I walked up there and stood there not hitting balls afraid I would hit him. He waved me on and seemed to not be worried about getting hit. So, I hit. One ball was heading his way and I yelled fore and the ball missed him by 10 yards. He then turned to me and held up his hands like a did something wrong even though he was the one standing in the middle of the range and the one that waved me on to hit while he was out there. Lastly, at the turn I went to buy a candy bar and soda. When I got my change I tipped the lady a dollar and she almost sneered at me like that wasn't anything. No "thank you" or "have a nice day." She just stared at me and almost looked disgusted. Lady, chill out, I just gave you a 25% tip and you are going to complain. All you did was reach in a fridge. Needless to say the rude staff members ruined an otherwise average course. If I were you, I would not play unless you are desperate and are not expecting a great high-quality course. Read The Review

Course looks great, and very green. Pros: Greens are consistent and extremely fast, and awesome to putt on. Fairways are in amazing shape and always have good lies. Cons: Fairways bouncy, fast, and sloped so a ball hit down the middle might roll off into the rough which brings me to my second complaint. Rough is EXTREMELY thick. You are lucky to hit the ball 100 yds out of it. You must be accurate off the tee to score well here. Also, greens are extremely hard and fast so approach shots roll off and do not stick whatsoever. Rough around greens is a little less thick but still quite ridiculous. I'm not trying to play in the U.S. Open! Sand is in decent shape and tee boxes are good. Overall, the course looks very green, but is playing extremely hard almost unfair-like right now. Read The Review

Fairways in great shape. All tee boxes excellent except number 14 is sandy. Actually sandy is an understatment, it is a beach. Greens were very bumpy due to light punching and nobody fixing their ball marks. I fixed 3 of every green just so a could putt in a reasonably straight line! Greens consistent speed but very, very slow, especially compared to what I was expecting after my June 28th round. They were extremely soft though making approach shots fairly easy. I made a divot on every hole that I didn't chip onto. I even made divots 40 yards away pitching on with a lob wedge. All in all, still a great course for all skill types and a great price any day of the week. Read The Review

I have never played this course before and I absolutely loved it. Fairways in great shapes, greens rolled true, and the overall layout was great. The staff was very friendly and boy do they give you a lot of range balls for $5. Course is reasonably priced and the conditions were great. I strongly recommend! Read The Review

Fairways great, tee boxes great, putting on the greens was great. Approach shots were another thing entirely. Greens are so hard that no approach shot sticks and it makes the course extremely difficult. Course in great shape though, staff was friendly like always, and pace of play was great. Read The Review

Greens are in very good shape, fairways are average, rough is way too thick for fair play. Pace of Play was great, I didn't see anyone ahead or behind me until 15. Then it backed up but still wasn't too bad. Staff was friendly and wasn't very crowded at all. An overall good experience. Read The Review

Greens almost helaed from punching... will be perfect in about one week. Pace of Play was great and staff was super friendly (like always.) Fairways in great shape, and rough is well manicured (but maybe a little thick for my liking.) Just a great course and one of my favorite courses as far as conditions go. Read The Review

- "Below average"
Layout is great, Course is awful! The fairways and tee boxes were average but the greens were absolutely awful. They looked patchy and were not green at all. You could see the ground and dirt underneath them. On some greens there were plugs from punching them on or next to the green but on some there were not so I could never figure out if the greens had just been punched or were just ridiculously awful! They didn't look punched so I honestly don't know which it is. The clubhouse mentioned they were working on two of the greens so we couldn't even play one of the holes. They need to be working on more than just two of the greens! All in all, it was a fun day but a poorly conditioned golf course. It is the oldest in Charlotte and unfortunately it shows. I must say that the staff was extremely friendly though and the rangers did a great job moving people along. We never saw the group in front or behind us after the third hole. Last thing, their golf carts are gas and are extremely slow. For some reason they are extremely strict about driving in the rough and when and where you are allowed to enter and exit the fairway. A little annoying but not a big deal. In conclusion, if course was in as good of conditions as Springfield, I would be a regular golfer there; however, it is nowhere close so I will continue paying $25 for junior rate at Springfield until another course proves to me it is worthwhile me playing there consistently. Course in best shape I've ever seen it in but still not very good. I have multiplt complaints starting with being overcharged $9. I wanted the $25 junior rate that is clearly listed on the website is a riding rate. The guy insisted that was a walking rate and $34 which is college student rate was the riding rate for juniors. I know it is $25 cause I played there a month ago and paid $25. I should have just left, but whatever I wanted to play. Fairways and greens are actually green now but still not very good. Fairways are thick and need to be desperately mowed. Speaking of mowing, on 4th hole, a mower was driving down fairway and would not move to side and let us hit. After we hit, he stayed in the middle and didn't move for our second shot either. The greens were consistent but extremely SLOOOOOOW! Also, the roughs around the greens were a little thick for a fairly easy golf course. Specific complaints, 3rd hole tee boxes terrible and 18th hole green there was a ballmark every square inch. All in all, not bad but not great. It wasnt crowded at all though. Read The Review

I actually somewhat enjoyed the course and the actual ole layouts, but my overall experience was awful. It started out them trying to charge me $55 because they didn't believe I was a junior. I might be 6' 2", 260 lbs. but I am 17 so I want junior rate. Then, we had a threesome in fron of my foursome so of course they are going to play faster. On hole 6, we were putting on the green at an hour and 10 minutes and the ranger came up and told us we needed to hurry up because there was a big gap or he would make us skip a whole. Then, on hole 11, the same ranger followed right behind us the whole hole and made sure we didn't waste any time which we weren't. We ended up finishig in 3 hours 50 minutes. I guess we were going to slow! Sorry! The greens were very inconsistent with one being super fast and the next like putting in my backyard. The fairways were decent and the tee boxes were average. I have to say that multiple holes are al centered around the clubhouse and you feel nervous you are going to get hit with someone else's errant ball. We did on hole 7 as we were driving down the cart path. Fortunately, it was only are cart. The course is alright but i can't recommend. Only play as a last resort. I probably won't be going back. I played this course about a month ago for the first time and it was near perfect. It was still excellent today just lots of ballmarks on greens and lots of divots on fairway from lots of use. The greens still ran true, the course is still top-notch, and the staff there are some of the nicest people you will meet. I strongly recommend it. I am considering a membership. Read The Review
