Well, I’m calling it a great course but I need to go back a few more times. The new mini-verde greens were in great shape, but the course seems to pride itself on “Augusta” greens in terms of speed – very, very fast. Wouldn’t be an issue – I like fast greens – except that the greens are also in the Donald Ross mold: often mounded and extremely difficult to hold. Add to that some ridiculous shot angles and you end up with a course that is extremely difficult. Again, I think I might like it, as I love Donald Ross designs and like fast greens as well, but this may be over the edge. Some of the fairways are a bit goofy as well – hit the middle of the fairway and end up 20 yards into the rough because of the angles. I’m going to come back a few more times before I decide if I really like the course.
