I am posting this about a month and a half after playing, but I felt I still needed to give Eagle Chase its fair rating. They keep this course in excellent shape. I’ll just say that if you’re a recreational golfer trying to improve your game, expect this to be an exceptional challenge. It’s worth it, though, just for the scenery.

My favorites are #2, #10, and #13. My most hated hole is #12.

#2 is a risk/reward kind of hole, but I like the lure of an elevated box. I’d recommend a 3 wood here if you’re better with it than your driver, but a solid driver strike will be rewarded. Frankly, I’d rather play it conservatively. The rewards are uncommon here. LOL

#10 is fun because I almost always bias to the right and almost always get a kick to the shelf before the fairway ends. Then, when I did land it in the mulch, I actually struck a nice iron onto the green. It seems like that hole likes me…..

#13 is another risk/reward lure. Except this one is in full view with a slope toward the water and into the green. A fade off a solid strike with good speed will have a chance at rolling onto the green. 290-295 yards will do it in spite of the posted yardage from the tees. It’s just a mis-hit is obviously punished with a penalty.

#12….. Misses are severely punished. Left and you have a difficult downhill chip that needs to drop and stop or it could roll off (and down hill into the crap). Misses right are in that crap, or at least an up-hill chip. The latter is about the best miss scenario other than missing short. Obviously, the water is in play, but frankly is irrelevant since it takes an accurate shot. This hole is cursed for me. LOL

Overall, most of the holes are a mixture of risk/reward and some fair chances at a good scoring hole. Overall, it’s a 9-10 type of course, but it is very challenging. The greens tend to be very difficult to hold, and that can be frustrated. Even a skilled golfer needs to be prepared if it is the first time playing Eagle Chase.
