Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation

"Great course"

10/20/26: Review by B-Man

Olde Sycamore is now one of the more dependable public courses for conditions and rates. It is a fun layout where you don't need driver off the tee very often and I've played it for over 2 decades. So it feels like an old friend when I get back here to play. The greens...

Another solid round of golf at Charlotte National. The course is crispy and the greens are quite firm, but that is to be expected with the lack of rain recently. The greens did roll true and pins were in some difficult positions - several pins were just a couple yards on the green and some were right on the spine of slopes. The only issue on the day was the pace of play - 5+ hours on a 90-degree day was not ideal and I did not see a ranger on the course to keep the pace moving.

The course was in good shape. The greens were a bit firm despite a consistent rain during the round (planned to play 18 holes but stopped after playing 9 due to weather) but they rolled true. There are some areas of the course where it seems the club appears to be doing repairs/remediation but they are mostly on the outskirts of the holes. All in all, it felt like the course handled the wet conditions fairly well. I will definitely return to the course (minus the rain, hopefully)!

Noticed this course on this site and curious if anyone has played it yet? Mooresville is pretty close and with lower rates for seniors even on weekends and typical course conditions will be hard to beat.
