Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation

"Great course"

10/20/26: Review by B-Man

Olde Sycamore is now one of the more dependable public courses for conditions and rates. It is a fun layout where you don't need driver off the tee very often and I've played it for over 2 decades. So it feels like an old friend when I get back here to play. The greens...

Overall, the tee area and fairways are in great condition. Trouble is the bunkers and greens need as lot of work. Sand is missing in some bunkers and those that have sand, it is minimal and hard as a rock, No maintenance at all. Greens were being worked on here and there, but it's going to take more than that. No one was on the course at noon so pace of play was fantastic but I would assume people know about the conditions.

Great deal for anymore who needs to escape from work during the week. $25 is a steal. Springfield did airate their greens and they are still noticable with the sand, but some holes are starting to come in and they are still playing fast as per usual there. Rest of course is in good shape and playing tough as they grew the rough higher in areas around traps and greens.

I would have gave this 5 stars if it wasn't for the pace of play. Really slow, even for a Sunday Morning. Course is in excellent shape and I got to see a lot of waiting continously between shots. I understand it is a retirement community and their might be a lot of elders on the course, but it was held up by a foursome who weren't that great playing from the back tees and treating their round as if it was Sunday afternoon on Tour. Several times there were 3 groups behind them waiting on the same hole! Ranger came around several times but it didnt seem to work. I recommend playing this course and hope you have better luck with the pace than I did.

Most of the course was in prestine condition. Greens are running fast and are in great shape. I played this course both on Friday and Saturday. On Saturday, half of the 9th hole fairway was dug up and being redone. Very unplayable. Starter stated they needed to fix based on the storm that came through 2 weeks ago. Didn't understand why they were doing it during a Holiday weekend with a lot of play. All other parts of the course are exceptional.

Been playing Fort Mill Golf Club the past few weeks. Greens are in phemomenal shape and roll true. Fairways are starting to turn color but that's normal this time of the year. Recommend this highly as the after 12pm rates are great! ($40 after 12pm throughout November) Can't wait to see if they lower them even more in December.

Noticed this course on this site and curious if anyone has played it yet? Mooresville is pretty close and with lower rates for seniors even on weekends and typical course conditions will be hard to beat.
