"Worth playing"

5/20/24: Review by golferdude

Played the tips..few mud balls due to recent rains. Greens were decent speed but not very receptive (many iron shots and pitches ran off the green). First time here in 8 years. Do like the look with the renovations. Rates are reasonable.

Greens, fairways, and tee boxes in good shape, few if any problems. The rest looks like my backyard. For 28 bucks, you get a little more than what you pay for, but I like the old school feel to this place. A few too many blind doglegs for my liking on the front 9, but on the back you can air it out nicely and see where you are going. Had an issue on 12 where the tee box is set left and requires you to play a draw to avoid trees that stick out.

Haven't played Charles T. in about 10 years, and it feels like some of the garbage from the landfill is starting to seep through. Nice easy layout though for a 6-8 per year hacker like me. Pluses: - Sparsely played in the afternoon, played my first sub-4 hour round in about 25 years. - Short, wide, and flat. The cement-like fairways provide good roll. Easy, uncomplicated greens. Minuses: - Laughable fairways and rough on most holes. - Completely unmaintained bunkers Bottom line: If you only play a handful of times per year (like me), this is a good course to knock around on. It's a course very much like the old Crystal Creek, depending on nature to perform the landscaping.

Reply To: Short Game Lessons or Clinic

By B-Man on 5/23/24

Lots of clubs around town will do short game clinics (1-3 hours on one day) that are fairly inexpensive ($30-$100). Stonebridge is one course that offers this. I've taken the one with Fred Bond and got my money's worth out of it. These types of clinics are usually a good...
