- "Great course"
I had stopped playing this course years ago because of the very poor playing conditions and management still charging top dollar. Complete turnaround so far. Greens (which were previously the biggest issue) are back to almost perfect condition. Everything else was in great shape. It was a charity captain's choice event, so the pace a play is not a true representation of a normal round. Will start playing there again if these conditions stay consistent. Read The Review

Fairways were in good shape. Greens were also in pretty good good shape, although they were extremely slow. Course may be cutting down on mowing/rolling the greens because of the heat. About a third of the tee boxes were really chewed up. There were a handful of bunkers that were unplayable, either from erosion from rain or standing water. If I had paid more for my round I would have been disappointed. The new driving range when it is up an running looks awesome. (They are installing trackman) Read The Review

- "Great course"
It's a hike to get to this course from the Charlotte area, but it's well maintained, affordable and pace of play is excellent. Aside from the fairways being mowed a little too short and the bunkers having more dirt than sand, I would definitely play here more regularly. Fairway width is very forgiving. Read The Review

Green were in excellent shape. Fairways were in good shape. Dirt/clay bunkers - not ideal. Driving range area needs a lot of love . For a true muni course, very much worth the price compared to other courses with either the same or even worse conditions. Will start playing there more often.....probably will save me a couple hundred dollars over the summer. Read The Review

Aside from a few dead spots around some of the fringe areas near the greens, this course was in spectacular shape. Fairways were perfect, greens excellent. The carts have some nice features...GPS screens (That are pretty accurate) and USB charging plus for your phone. Nice job Carolina Lakes getting your greens back! Read The Review

- "Great course"
Fairways and greens are spectacular. Most bunkers are in good shape. Some of the tee boxes are chewed up. The course is trying to repair the regular mens tee boxes, so some tee positions are playing back and some are playing from the senior area. Course does a pretty good job trying to keep the pace of play around 4.5 hours. On hot days, the ranger drives around with cold wet towels to cool down with. Nice touch Read The Review

I'm giving it 3 stars because the greens are in excellent shape. They are digging sewer lines in through much of the course, so several holes are affected. There are ditches and netting/tarps across # 1 Fairway, #10 end of fairway, beginning of 12th hole (tee boxes are pushed up); 17 in front of the pond and 18 is now a par 3. Some of the bunkers had hard clay/dirt in them instead of fluffy sand. Luckily it was only $25 to play on a Sunday. Any more than that it would not be a very good value. Staff is always friendly, however the dress code is severely relaxed. Jeans, t-shirts and even a flannel shirt was spotted. Read The Review

Nice layout. Greens were really nice. Fairways very good. Bunkers were good. Many of the fairways are wide and very open, however the rough if almost non-existent. Any ball that rolled through the rough, either ended up in the woods and lost or ended up on rocky dirt patches. I probably lost 3 or 4 balls that would have been normally played out of the rough. Good course though. Maybe the rough will come back in the fall. Read The Review

Greens are getting a bit chewed up from the heat. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give the greens about a 6. The grounds crew are working hard to keep the greens playable. Fairways were in almost perfect condition. Traps were good as well although I was only in 1 on them all day. My fellow golfers didn't seem to have any issues with the bunkers they were in. Staff is friendly and the rangers do a nice job going around the course, keeping groups on time without being too pushy. Definitely a course worth playing. Read The Review

- "Great course"
Greens are amazing, the fairways are great and the tee boxes were in pretty good shape. Bunkers could use a little TLC. Pace of play was a tad slow, but it was Sunday morning. The course is always well maintained. With no roads or houses near the holes, it's super quiet and and very tranquil. A demanding course with some fun elevation changes on several holes. Totally worth the drive from Charlotte. Definitely will be back. Read The Review

Fun "country" track. Some of the tee boxes were a little chewed up. Bunkers were decent. Greens were in pretty good shape. Fairways greening up nicely. Last 4 holes are really challenging. Especially 18 from the Blue tees (447 Par 4 - Sharp dog leg left around a pond and narrow landing area - requires a perfect tee shot) Really nice place to play, particularly for the price. Robbie at the clubhouse is a true southern gent. Read The Review

Greens were spotty on some holes, however for a county owned/public course, I've see much worse. Fairways were a little choppy, but hard to judge while dormant. For the price, this place is a steal to play. Read The Review

- "Below average"
Most of the greens were burnt up with significant black bare patches that made many holes unputt-able. I understand that sometimes courses are unable to maintain or even save some greens, but the course should offer a reduction in the price. $59 on the weekend was hardly worth it. Very disappointing, because generally the course is very well maintained and fun to play. Read The Review

- "Below average"
The only redeeming feature was the greens and the price. Greens were spectacular. Staff is always friendly as well. Fairways were really chewed up, and there were significant bare patches of dirt and weeds. Tee boxes were in horrendous shape, especially 9. That's a shame because 9 is such a pretty hole. - "Never going back"
I understand that some of the poor course conditions were due to work that is being done, but to pay full price for a course that was in such poor shape did not sit well with our foursome. Tee boxes on some hole were non-existent. Many fairways were chewed up and some of the greens were absolutely atrocious. I would seriously check course conditions before playing there. - "Great course"
Course was crowded, but played at a good pace for a Sunday. Rangers on the course helped. Greens were in very good shape and considering the very hot and dry conditions, the fairways are holding up. A few brown and bare patches here and there, but nothing that interfered with the game too much. Read The Review

Fairways were rock hard and had trouble holding any shots that had a fade or draw. Rough was very short and dry as well. Greens were in excellent condition. Staff is always very courteous with free bottled water on the course and a free range token included in your greens fees. Still, well worth the drive. Read The Review
