This is the worst I have seen Rocky River in a long time. The greens are great as always, but for some reason a few fairways and tee boxes have not come back. If you play Greens expect to be by the tips. If you play whites, some holes might have you playing off the ladies tee. They are having the PGA qualifier this week which i know has the groundscrew probably stressing. The grass is bermuda though so I expect it be back in shape in the next couple of weeks. I have played Emerald Lake a bunch of times and I am usually disappointed. Not right now though. Emerald Lake could be in the greatest condition I have ever seen it. Fairways are green and not too thin. The greens are in the best shape I have ever seen them. Some tee boxes were a little rough, but I could find a space to put my ball. I will continue to play it while it lasts, especially for the price. Read The Review

The greens have really bounced back here. There might be 2 greens that are not perfect. I love this course in the fact that the layout isn't bad, troon does a wonderful job, bent grass greens are great and cut low, and its not that far from charlotte. No issues in the bunkers. Fairways are coming back, but could be a little better. Can't beat it for $20 Read The Review

I don't know why I gave this place another chance after last year. Tee boxes, horrible. Fairways, they ripped up most and the ones they haven't were unplayable. Greens, suffering from severe root rot ( overwatering ) and the ones that weren't did have any grass. Not a good experience. Read The Review

So I never played this course in the Trail days as I heard it was trash. Well my friend and I played it and has a great time. The layout wasn't as bad as people said and the course was in good condition. The only problem we ran into was that they just bought a crap ton of new sand. ( allegedly $25,000 worth). Well they just dumped the sand in and it was like playing out of a beach where you step into and the sand rises to your ankles. This made some bunkers almost unplayable. Though with the rain we had and the couple weeks that went by I imagine these sand traps are now in good condition. Go check it out Read The Review

Skybrook is really coming around since Troon took over! I played this course a month agao and the greens had some issues. I didn't think they would come back as they were bent grass and its the summer, but damn was I wrong. The greens are in damn good shape for being bent and in August. There were a couple fairway spots that werent as thick in grass, but I really don't think that was due to neglect, but the amount of rain we have had. Also, the bunkers were horrible. Though again it rained like a mofo on Thursday and Friday. They said due to the rain play lift clean and place in the bunkers. Overall this course is coming back and the cart people also will clean your clubs and take back the cart at the end of the round. Kudos to you Troon and Skybrook! Read The Review

We got out around 11 and played the Jackson course. Not a long course (jones is longer) but elevation comes into play. There are so many pretty holes on this course. 6 & 10 would be perfect examples. Decent amount of water. Everything right now is in prime condition. The starters and the guys who get your cart are always on point. The food inside isn't bad. It's hard to say which course I like better, though my friend favors the jackson over the jones. If it wasn't 55 minutes away I would def play here more often. Read The Review

Skybrook is coming around! The layout is fun and for the back nine seems a little more challenging than the front. Tee boxes, fairways, and sand were all in decent shape. Only problem is the greens are bumpy. THis isn't the new ownerships fault as they inherited a lot worse. Also, i don't see the greens really coming back to fall due to them being bent grass and I am expecting a hot summer. THough, greenskeepers were out watering holes between big gaps of groups. Unless these greenskeeprs are awesome.
Workers at the course pick you up from your car in the cart and drop you back off which makes it feel like a real nice course Read The Review

Made the trip up to tillery this weekend. The course is in great shape and this is the time of year for their greens ( bent grass). A couple of fairways are starting to turn brown. It reminded me that oh F#$K winter is almost upon us. Staff was friendly even though we showed up 10 mins late. I really like this course, but the 1hr 5 minute ride isn't fun. I would rather play edgewater or Rock barn if I am driving this far. Read The Review

Stay away from Renaissance right now. The greens are punched with holes about the size of a baseball bat and what green is left is horrible Putting I would have to take a driver swing to get it to the hole and then if it actually rolled shiz. Renaissance has never been a great course, but it has always been on the lower end of the mid tier list. Price and proximity are the only reason I golf there occasionally. These greens though were just dreadful Read The Review

Wow, what a great course. Very old school feel. The front 9 ross design you could tell was evident with the elevated upside down saucer greens. The back jackson side was great as well. I will def be playing here more often especially if I can continue to get this price. It seems that the course drains pretty nicely because we had some balls that were just running down the fairways. The best part of this place is the greens. Full and probably some of the fastest greens I have played this year. I def will be back Read The Review

Wow, i was totally impressed with this course. From tee to green everything was pristine. I loved everything about this course from the layout to the quickness of the greens. The only thing that left a little snicker was the power lines on the 2 par 3's buzzing that just sounded sketchy. They don't affect play, and aren't anywhere else on the course. For the price this course is just perfect, though it is about a 50 minute drive from Charlotte Read The Review

Fox den is a great course. At first i thought it was going to be a housing community course, but then you wind through the woods which is great. There are 2 holes that are risk reward with a creek out about 250. The fairways were in great shape, the greens were full and pretty quick, and the cart girl was most definitely cute. For the price the course is amazing, too bad its not closer to charlotte Read The Review

Let me start of by saying i am little bias to these type of courses. This course and Old Sycamore kind of rub me the wrong way. They feel manufactured so to speak.
Now onto the review. The course was completely brown with leaves everywhere. Not their fault due to it being fall, but I have seen other courses kept in better condition. There are some memorable holes such as the par 5 over the same pond twice. What really hurt this course is that the greens were murdered with ball marks. They were not in that good shape at all which wasn't fun. I know a lot of people like this course and old sycamore on this site. To me they are not visually appealing ( aka boring) and this one had no elevation changes. Overall i probably wouldn't be back unless I couldnt get a deal somewhere else Read The Review

Woah, what the hell happened? I played Regent Park the beginning of this year and it wasn't a bad course. Played a month or two ago and they had punched the greens. The greens were better when they were punched. The greens are dying and they were overwaterd when we played. Which equals divot mark galore. I had about 4 puts thats jumped in the air from hitting different marks in the green, every ball that landed on the green would take a massive divot, but the fairways were decent. The greens need some serious work. Read The Review

First time I have made the trek to red bridge. What an awesome course. Everything was in perfect shape. The mini verde greens are doing exceptionally well and they are soft. I actually spun one off the green which was suprising. I have to agree with Bman about the only thing I didn't like on this course. its that the scorecards don't show the layout too well, and you will have no idea how far the hazards are on some of the blind dog legs. This caused my score to drop as I should have pulled 3 iron on two holes instead of driver. After playing it, I will remember where to hit, but you should play with someone who knows the course the first time. Read The Review

Verdict Ridge is still an awesome golf course. I have played it many times. Its wide open and I have always enjoyed the design. Everything here is immaculate and now they installed mini verde greens. So if you have played VR before you know what to expect.
Now the reason I am writing this for the new greens. I always thought the old greens were kept in tremendous shape. I agree with the previous reviewer that Rocky Ridge's greens are better, but also slower. VR's greens were firm and a tad bit faster, but you can tell the bermuda hasn't woving itself together yet. This is probably the reason they cut it short. So hopefully the greens can get themselves together before the fall/winter. Read The Review

Wow! So I used to live by this course and was always told about the atrocious greens. Well that is now solved. I got a good deal and could have played even cheaper on Sunday. The course has an awesome semi-challenging layout. A couple fairways were tight, so it was good to pull something other than driver even though you wanted to. As the other review stated the rough could really mess your hole up. The greens were awesome. Though number 18 still looked to be a work in progress, and couple holes did have some sand repair on them, they played true. The greens also weren't that fast as they are trying to beef them up over the next couple of months which is understandable. There are really only two drawbacks to this course. One, a couple sandtraps were a tiny bit rocky. The other drawback was that mud bogging was going on next to a few fairways that was loud as all hell. Overall for the price point I paid, I would be back everytime. Seriously, if it was between this at this price point and verdict ridge at $65, i would take rocky ridge. Read The Review

This is my second favorite course in the area. ( rock barn being number 1, but thats a hike) The conditions were pristine. Greans were amazing, maybe around a 10.5,which was good. Fairways, teeboxes, and sand traps were all in wonderful shape. If you have been here you know what to expect. An awesome challenging layout with some tricky putting depending on pin placement. I will try and get up here as much as possible before they switch the greens. Also, I couldnt beat the price on a Saturday. Read The Review

- "Never going back"
I hated old suckamore. I showed up by myself ( which I normally do) and asked the 3 some behind me if they would like to play, they declined so I was ok with that. I started with a nice drive and then thats when I saw something a little fishy. On the green a whole group of kids and their parents. Apparently there was a tournament for little kids going on. I had to wait about 40 minutes in between each shot. I caught up to the group and they saw I was by myself, they wouldn't let me play through which I can understand. So after the kids would finish up on the green the greenskeepr would stop me and start watering the greens while I was on my second shot. It took me 7 hrs to play this course, solo. The course itself isn't even really that great. It was kept up okay, but there is nothing visually satisfying about this course. Luckily I only paid $20 and should have listened to my friend when he told me not to play there. What a dissapointment. Read The Review

Wow, night and freaking day. Last year I played this course this course mid summer and said to my friend that I probably wouldn't be back here. This was my first time playing this year and I am glad I picked Larkhaven. The fairways and greens were in amazing shape. I was completely shocked how great the conditions were. It rained, so the greens were slow. I decided to play this course again on Sunday. I felt like they cut the greens and they were ten times faster. The only problem was that on Sunday there were so many people that it took us near 5 hrs to finish. I think I will keep coming back here until the conditions turn to crap. Read The Review
