First time at Glen Oaks and my score showed it… 🙂 Course is on pretty good shape. Tees, traps, fairways good. Greens not bad considering a lot of ball mark damage. Recommended!

I've been making the rounds chatting with several media personalities about my Top 10 list and my site. All of this exposure should get even more reviews and updates on Charlotte golf courses for you and make my site even better.

I played it last week and agree it is a very nice course. But boy was it SLOW out there for me, and they told me this was the norm. Pretty much the only game in town out there. Worth playing, however.
Played it a second time recently, and agree that conditions were near perfect, but the greens did have a few more ballparks than the first time. 18 is a really silly hole, however: the local rule is that if you hit it in the fairway on your first shot, you tee it up on your next shot to hit it over the lake – would make more sense to me just to play it as a par 4 with the first shot over the lake; when I suggested this to the guy in the pro shop, he looked at me like I was crazy (which, I know, many on this site would agree with).
When I went out there for the first time the guy in the pro shop told me about the “local rule” on number 18. I kind of thought it was weird and I am sure I did not provide the reaction he was expecting. Kind of goony goldfish but whatever. There is also a hole (can’t remember – on the backside about midway through) where you have to hit your drive far enough out so you don’t have a blind shot to the green over an old barn. Not my cup of tea but kind of different. I really like the layout. Seems a bit flat but they keep the course up. Just a lot of people out there usually, and walkers in the mornings.
We must have been lucky the day we played. Sunday 12:15 tee time, kept up with the group ahead and never were pushed, finished in less than 4 hours.
I defintely agree that its a little tricked up in spots and 18 is defintely goofy golf (the gentleman behind the counter did not mention the local rule… fortunately, I knew it thanks to you all). The barn hole (14?) is another example plus a couple of others with descending fairways then a forced carry over a creek. Defintely go forward to see where you are playing to if it’s your first time.
