Everthing good except the greens. They had significant issues – lots of ball marks, including big scars. They did a good job of keeping the pins away from the worst areas, but it is hard to recommend Emerald Lake when Olde Sycamore, Charlotte National, and Red Bridge all have perfect greens.

Dr, I have to disagree with your comment “significant issues” about the greens. 16 of the 18 are almost perfect, fast and firm. Sure, 16 and 17 still have issues but they have improved a lot in the last month or so. I played 11/7 and enjoyed the course and the speed/conditions of the greens. I would recommend ELGC over the other courses you mentioned, but that’s just me….

I have actually recently played the other courses and I feel the greens at ELGC are just as good. I think “significant issues” was a bit over the top, but again that’s my opinion. They are a lot better than some of the other courses in that area (Divide and The Golf Links) for sure.

I didn’t compare with the Divide (who does – a dump by all accounts), or Carolina Links, another Carolina Trail course. Play Red Bridge, Charlotte National, or Olde Sycamore now, and you will find conditions much better than Emerald Lake right now. Play Rocky River or Verdict Ridge for perfect conditions.
