"Great course"

5/29/23: Review by GoBux

First time playing here --- very impressed with the greens as the Sunday Ultra-Dwarf Bermudagrass is as advertised! Very smooth and they roll true. A good variety of holes and good risk/reward shots as well. Hard to get into too much trouble here. Enjoyed it very...

I played Skybrook 2 weeks ago and it was in pretty good shape. The greens are starting to come back after being punched several weeks back and the fairways are getting green.

Playing Skybrook for the first time this weekend. What should I expect and do you have any advice?

Awesome layout. Forgiving fairways. Always plays slow – just something about the course. Not sure about conditions.

Just punched, large holes and sand. Probably 2-3 weeks for complete healing would be my guess.

Yes Billy Casper took over on a judges order on Friday I have meet the transition team. Hunting Dog investments was the holder of the note on the property and filed the paperwork.
Course is over grown with weeds and greens are showing signs of dollar spot again. Rumor has it Textron was coming for the carts which are bad anyway. Hopefully a quick management change and some cash will save the greens and get the course playable. Likely take a year to fix everything, then you they have to fix the business model to get the cash flow up to take care of the place. The deals have to stop.

Any update on Skybrook? Was planning an event there this spring and believe I just saw headlines its back in trouble again…

Unfortunately, all of the Carolina Trail courses are going to be in trouble for a while longer. No one has purchased The Golf Links or Skybrook, which have both been for sale for months. The Divide, Waterford, and The Tradition are now owned by a bank and are just awful. They are all basically for sale. Until a new golf course owner comes in and turns it around, might be a good idea to stay away.

Good news on Skybrook. They just moved thru the ledgal process and now have ownership. They no longer are any part of the Carolina Trial. Also, the Day-to-day operations have been contracted with and will be managed by the Billy Casper Golf Co., one of the biggest Golf companies in the country. Just booked an Outing with Skybrook and are excited about the program. They have some rally aggressive plans to improve and upgrade conditions beginning now. Good to hear one of Charlotte’s great layouts is back.

Played Skybrook today and was very pleased. New management seems to be making great strides toward improving conditions.
