"Great course"

5/22/22: Review by Jonny

I arrived at 940am for a 1040am tee time. There are no markings on the three buildings that share the same address on the GPS. The Club House is the building with the 3 flags flying in front. You drive around behind this building for the bag drop. There will be an attendant...

course is now open to public – very nice course rates are good considering this was a private course

Played for the first time today. Stunningly beautiful setting with some great holes. Condtions were great, too. Vaults into contention for favorite courses.

Played Cramer Mountain today (10/16) for the first time. We were told when we booked the tee time that the greens were punched two weeks ago, and that they would be “just a little bumpy”. Here is the REAL deal: they were possibly the worst greens I have ever seen in 30 years of playing golf. About 2/3 of the greens were literally unplayable – grass at least 1/2″ high, large portions of the greens dead, heavily sanded in many areas. The three os uf were completely stunned by their poor condition. The greens need a lot of work, or total replacement, to make them puttable. The course overall is a good layout, and the fairways were in good shape, but general maintenance has been lacking there for a long time. Basic things like cartpaths, bunkers, etc. need a lot of work just to get to “public” course! standards. My advice – stay away from CM for a while, maybe try it in the spring. It really needs some serious maintenance.

Has anybody played this course recently? Went to a wedding reception there this past weekend and the hole layouts I could see looked interesting but it was in the evening so I couldn’t tell about the condition – read some other reviews and they weren’t to kind but I trust the guys more on this site — Thanks, Mike

played on 3/8 for $22 course opened to public about 2 years ago to generate revenue – what they are doing with it i have no idea – the putting green is horrible, greens on course are so so, fairways are good, but tee boxes are iffy – shame because this is a challenging course that plays longer than yardage on card

Just called them…They went back to private. I played there in 2010 when they had opened to the public. End of saga.

Cramer mtn recently re-opened as a private course. The homeowners stepped in and poured a lot of money into it to bring it back, including new greens, and from what I hear it is in fantastic shape now.

Only downside is that it is private/members only I believe.
