"Bad, stay away"
Clubhouse is nice. And that's the end of positive things to say Course is in awful shape. Greens are running a 2. Bare spots on several holes. Weeds all throughout greens. Group in front of us took almost 5 hours. Ranger came by once but didn't improve anything.
GOT to play Springfield. Located a little past Waterford, this is one nice course. The clubhouse is a trailer (temporary) but the staff is friendly and knowledgable. Have seen wild turkeys the 2 times I’ve played it this yr. Each hole is seperate, no golfers coming the other way. Tees/fairways/greens & sand traps all good. They were surveying for 700(?) homes last time I was there so it’d be a good idea to play this course soon. Be advised – they have clocks every 4 holes or so to pace your play (4 1/2 hr round). Pay attention to the in-cart hole cards; they’ll keep you out of trouble.
I have two friends coming in on the 17th for two days of golf. I am scheduling a round at waterford and the Ballantyne resort. Any other courses that come recommended? They are both single digit and big hitters who would over power a small course. I have heard mixed things about Old Sycamore.
Sounds like you might want a course with some bite in it. Old Sycamore is a shot-shaper’s course, and a driver is not needed on most holes due to the high number of doglegs. Regent Park is a little tougher in my opinion, fairly long, but does not not have severe doglegs. Two other nice, fairly tough courses are Verdict Ridge and Skybrook.
