I had taken a few days off since playing last weekend but went back to Emerald Lake today and found that the greens had been punched Mon/Tues. I only played a few holes before dark, but the greens are going to be slow and bumpy for another week or two.

You will want to explicitly ask about aeration when you make tee times over the next month. This is the time of year when most courses will aerate the greens and sometimes fairways too.

Hmm…. I guess I am the “expert” on aeration dates. Gee, I made a bunch of calls to the various courses, posted the information they provided, and, guess what, someone gave me the wrong information. Bust me for trying to be helpful…

i’m glad you posted dates and common sense tells you to always ask this time (and sept) of year when you call anyway. i like your reviews because they keep me updated on where to play and where to stay away that week or month.

So I called around and was given the following information by these courses – don’t flame me if it’s wrong! It’s was what I was told.

Eagle Chase says they will install new greens on the front 9 4/18, back 9 4/28, and full course could be open as soon as 3/8 (seems like an aggressive timetable). I didn’t check Carolina Trail courses since I don’t play them.

Anyone have an aeration schedule for this year?

FYI it looks like Fox den aerated a week and a half ago. Still a little bumpy. It’s that time of year for aeration so if you know anything please post!

Springfield punched Monday and Tuesday and has lowered rates for the next couple of weeks.
Verdict Ridge is punching on 7/13 and 7/14. They will have discounted rates 7/15-7/19.
