Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation

"Great course"

10/20/26: Review by B-Man

Olde Sycamore is now one of the more dependable public courses for conditions and rates. It is a fun layout where you don't need driver off the tee very often and I've played it for over 2 decades. So it feels like an old friend when I get back here to play. The greens...

Been hearing great things about this course and wanted to play it for a while. Now that I have, all I can say is WOW. This course it a little bit of a hike from Charlotte, but well worth the drive. Best Course I have played in years...and I play them all. I usually agree with Mat on here that Springfield is one of the nicest in the area, until I played Edgewater. Course was in Pristine condition. Tee Boxes, Fairways and greens were PERFECT. Rough wasn't as high as other places, but was full and challenging. Greens were a tad slow, but were being watered around us, so this was to be expected. Very few marks of any kind, and they rolled consistent and true all day. Staff was all very friendly and helpful, with one even stopping and spotting a ball for me on a blind shot. Scenery was beautiful, and there was very little play. What a serene and relaxing round of golf. This course is worth double what they charge, and for $40 range balls and bottle water on the course were included. I am trying to think of a negative thing to say and I can't find a thing. I already have a time booked for later this week. What a fantastic Jewel in the rough this course is. A+++

Course is in good shape. Tee boxes, fairways and rough were good. There are a few "thin" spots in the fairway, however the ground wasn't hard as a rock, so it was very manageable. Greens had a few marks, but were quick and rolled true. Sorry to say I never found my way into a bunker so I can't comment :) Very happy playing here, and it will make it into my rotation very soon.

One of the nicest maintained courses in the Charlotte Area. I personally love the layout, and the conditions. Fairways are full, rough is thick and tough, Greens were a tad slow, but rolled true and had very minimal markings. If this course was $10 cheaper, I would play here every week...I do love this course and play it often, but almost $50 during the week to play is a little high for my budget.

Played this morning. Course was in good shape. 1st green was really beat up, but all others were in good shape. Fairways and rough were in good shape as well. there was the occasional barren spot right off the cart path that has to much cart travel, but nothing that should affect play. Greens were decent speed, and rolled true. One of the best all around courses as far as condition goes that I have played this year. My only complaint was that we(3some) were stuck behind a 4some of ladies for 12 holes that didn't let us play through. It really slowed the round down for us, but we never saw a ranger to mention it to. U understand that 4.5 hours isn't abnormally long, but there was no reason that my group couldn't have finished 30-45 minutes quicker. Great course and great conditions. I will be going back soon.

Tee boxes, Fairways and rough are in great shape...greens not so much. They are slow, bumpy and have barren patches all over them. I really enjoy the layout of this course, and if there greens were in better shape, I would play here every week. also, pace of play was SLOW. I played as a twosome, and it took us 5 hours to play. Waited for every shot. Went into the proshop at the turn to make the problem know, and was told that we were playing behind the owner. We passed him on the 14th hole(skipped the hole) and never saw another group in front of us. Unfortunately, it was a log jam behind us...

Noticed this course on this site and curious if anyone has played it yet? Mooresville is pretty close and with lower rates for seniors even on weekends and typical course conditions will be hard to beat.
