Olde Sycamore is now one of the more dependable public courses for conditions and rates. It is a fun layout where you don't need driver off the tee very often and I've played it for over 2 decades. So it feels like an old friend when I get back here to play.
The greens...
Had never played here before. There are major renovations on 10 and 18, with 2 temporary greens that are about 10 feet wide and long grass. Almost not worth playing these holes. The fairways and tee boxes throughout need some work. The fairways are pretty firm dirt with grass sitting on top, which leads to consistent tight lies. Needs to be sliced and overseeded. Won’t be playing here again for $80.
Best conditions in the area right now. Greens were rolling very true. Fun layout. Especially holes 14-18 is a great stretch. Only less fun hole is 7 which requires you to layup with an iron (unless you can drive 300+).
Noticed this course on this site and curious if anyone has played it yet? Mooresville is pretty close and with lower rates for seniors even on weekends and typical course conditions will be hard to beat.
