Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation

"Great course"

10/20/26: Review by B-Man

Olde Sycamore is now one of the more dependable public courses for conditions and rates. It is a fun layout where you don't need driver off the tee very often and I've played it for over 2 decades. So it feels like an old friend when I get back here to play. The greens...

Played here twice recently to test out the new greens. They are confusing and slow. I had a few 3 putts testing out speed. Kind of slow right now. They took off the false front on 10. Cut out the fairway tree on 2. 17 has more of a bowl then the straight uphill green it used to be. I’ve always loved this layout. And it has gotten a little better with the changes

To charge $80 for that dog shit course is criminal. Tee boxes with no grass. Spray painted putt putt carpet greens. Dormant muddy fairways after no rain. If you are paying $80 for this please stop. What a joke. An attendant was giving a customer a hard time about having his empty cooler on course, even after he was saying he was going to buy beverages from the bar. Sandwiches used cheap food lion bread charging a premium price. They couldn’t pay me to play this course. But hey the cart paths were just paved

Everyone talks crap about the dead greens but they have recovered nicely. Still some tough spots but certainly playable unless you’re a country club player. See my course vlog YouTube.com/@mattywesside_golf

Winter conditions. They lost the greens at end of summer because of the surrounding water supply but it’s always a good course everyone should test out YouTube.com/@mattywesside_golf

Typical winter conditions. Greens are slow and so slopey that it’s hard to get good putting numbers. Usually very slow I go through in an average time. Paired up with good people. Was damp as it doesn’t drain great and they are working on bunkers. You can see the conditions on my YouTube vlog

Noticed this course on this site and curious if anyone has played it yet? Mooresville is pretty close and with lower rates for seniors even on weekends and typical course conditions will be hard to beat.
