Olde Sycamore is now one of the more dependable public courses for conditions and rates. It is a fun layout where you don't need driver off the tee very often and I've played it for over 2 decades. So it feels like an old friend when I get back here to play.
The greens...
Fun course. Lots of variety. Anything left above hole was lightning fast going down. Putting green faster than course greens (grrr) Pace of play was kind of slow - didn't see a ranger until 14th hole.
Very challenging course from the tips. All greens firm, save 17, which is soft. Driving the ball accurately is key (I didn't do this). Greens were slower than putting green, which caused me to leave many putts short. Friendly ranger. I'd love to go back.
Came away less impressed than I thought I would be. Greens cratered with unrepaired ball-marks, and the lack of rain is very evident on the course.
Still, putts rolled well and lots of variety. I'll come back when conditions are better.
Noticed this course on this site and curious if anyone has played it yet? Mooresville is pretty close and with lower rates for seniors even on weekends and typical course conditions will be hard to beat.
