First time playing CT Myers in probably 20 years. Pretty sure I said 20 years ago I’d never come back here. And it’ll probably be another 20 years until I play it again. Especially for 60 bucks. Robbery. That’s a $30 golf course. Period. Until they make significant improvements, $60 is just messed up. If it would have cost $30, like it should have, I wouldn’t have even written this review. Because it’s a muni…and muni’s in this kind of condition cost 30 bucks to play. I’m not sure when this changed but it’s just not right. Maybe some people don’t know what a $60/round course looks like so they just pay it? And it’s not like $60 is some huge amount of money, but that’s beside the point. It’s just not a good value. Charlotte National costs the same to play and is at the very least, 10x better.
The greens were just bad. And some were terrible. Crabgrass infested with extremely uneven coverage. Saying they’re bumpy is a disservice to the word bumpy. Think Plinko.
Fortunately I was only in one bunker. They were looking pretty suspect but they did seem to have sand in them. So there’s that.
The fairways were alright with the exception of 1 of the par 5’s on the front 9. I’m pretty sure there wasn’t even a fairway on this hole.
They did do a hell of a job keeping the coolers filled with cold water. Kudos for sure. It was like 99° and I definitely would have died without it. So thank you so much for that!
Just make it a $30-$40 course and everything is fine. Read The Review

So just let me preface this review real quick…Emerald Lake has unfortunately been one of my least favorite places to play through the years. From layout to conditions it’s sucked for many, many years. But I got invited to play there last week, so I went.
I knew something was up immediately when I saw the maintenance crew topdressing tees. And then when I got to the course I knew things had completely changed out there. Their bent grass greens are 2 feet faster and have much better coverage than Pine Island’s private CC greens. Sure…the first bounce is nonexistent but their green’s speed is much faster than you’d expect from any place in the summer with bent grass greens. Just fix a couple ball marks and any putt is makeable out there.
The fairways were flawless. I still can’t believe I’m saying this about EL. Playing it down…I didn’t have the first bad lie. Even the holes that notoriously flood were completely dry and in the same shape as the rest of the course. And the fact that they’re topdressing tees let’s me know somebody gives a hoot out there.
Couldn’t have been more surprised by Emerald Lake. Definitely worth playing if you’ve written this course off in the past!!! Read The Review

Here's my review of the Jackson Course at Rock Barn. Going to use the "10 scale". Greens: 8-good public golf speed. Fairways:8-they were pretty good except for the 2 holes where it was carts on path. Rough: 1-if you didn't hit the fairway, be ready to go on a hurt. It took this two-some over 3.5 hours to play...not because of bad play or an overcrowded course. The rough hadn't been mowed in weeks!! Bunkers: 0-It was hard for me to believe the level of neglect. Grass in every single bunker. Edges were nonexistent. Extremely disappointing and showed laziness on the part of the super. They were horrible!! Layout: 3-Typical Tom Jackson layout. Great par 3s, decent par 5s, and horrible par 4s. I'm guessing the Jones course is where they spend their time, money, and manpower. One thing is for sure, I'll never play the Jackson course ever again. A poorly maintained Tom Jackson course just isn't worth what we paid!! Read The Review

Getting new greens at Eagle Chase was the best thing the ever did. The new diamond zoysia putting surfaces are pretty good. They are definitely a little slow up the hill but I'm not complaining. I've always thought if they could keep the greens good and consistent, people would read enjoy playing their course. It feels like you are playing a mountain course with all the elevation changes and nice views. The tees were in really good shape and the fairways were next to perfect. The rough was a little bit high if I have to complain about something. But I know that the super has an extremely small staff. All in all, Eagle Chase was in the best shape I've seen it in a very long time! Highly recommended!! Read The Review
