Tee boxes could use a little TLC. Fairways were in very good shape. Although we weren’t in a lot of bunkers, they were in good shape. Fluffy sand. Greens were recently sanded so they played pretty slow and a little bumpy. But not very many blemishes or dead spots. Friendly...

Short Game Lessons or Clinic
    • #15783

      Hi,

I’m mediocre player, my handicap has been as low as 8, currently 11. I’m solid off tee, solid iron player, solid from bunkers and so-so putter. But my short game is garbage. I struggle to get up and down from 5-10 yards off green. Chipping, Pitching – all suck. I really need to get with someone who might be able to look at what I’m doing and correct that. I’ve had short game lesson from two of pros at my course but not really impressed with their methods. Any recommendations for good short game instruction, clinic, ? Thanks!

Lots of clubs around town will do short game clinics (1-3 hours on one day) that are fairly inexpensive ($30-$100). Stonebridge is one course that offers this. I’ve taken the one with Fred Bond and got my money’s worth out of it. These types of clinics are usually a good way to try out a teaching pro to see if you’d like more individualized instruction.

A good book on this whole topic is the Short Game Bible by Dave Pelz. He takes a very scientific approach that has informed my short game strategy and thinking for the last decade or so. Highly recommend.
