Got out to Cleghorn yesterday for the first time. I see why people like it. Great layout and other than getting through Shelby it’s wide open 4-lane just about all the way there. Same amount of time from Huntersville as is Tillary Tradition or Edgewater. Certainly the feel of a mountain course in the foothills. George Cobb design (Quail Hollow, East Lake – Atlanta, Sea Pines, etc.). In great shape except for a lot of areas that look like there is/was some sort of grass fungus or something? Wide green fairways then an area of brown. One tee box had virtually no grass. Greens are beautiful but slower than they look. They were top dressing them, which I think they might do most Mondays (as does Warrior) so might not have cut them over the weekend. All in all well worth the drive. Also note the price: after 2PM Mon-Thurs $25, $21.25 if pay online.
