Eagle Chase Golf Club

"Great course"

11/3/22: Review by Golfmusician

Played Eagle Chase for the first time yesterday. I had heard about the elevation changes, but I wasn't expecting as much as I saw. If you're a straight hitter, you'll have no problems here. If not, plan on losing balls. The Bermuda rough can be brutal, and if you get in...

I went over and played today. The rest of the course was ok and the new club house was great. The biggest problem is the greens were heat stressed and they looked bad. They are trying to get this place up to standard but the greens are holding them back.

I don't remember the score for that day, it is the last time I have had the chance to play here. The new ownership group is working wonders with this course. I had some friends up to play with us it was their first time, so a good time was had by all. This course is tight, if you miss hit the ball by a small amount you will go OB. That is the part of this course that keeps me away, but if you are a player that hits fairways you will enjoy playing here. I will play here again because of two things the price is good and it gives you another choice in the Statesville, Hickory area to play. Not a lot of reasonable priced public access courses here, and especially one that has decent conditions.

Now that I live in Statesville it is tough to get tee times, there are only 4 public access courses here and one of them is on temp greens. My favorite course is difficult to get spur of the moment tee times on, I scored a round on Golf Now for a price I could afford and went over and played Pox Den. The course was in great shape, the greens rolled great so it made putting fair. The staff was friendly and the pace of play was good. The only drawback I could find is the 6th hole a par 5 that is completely roped off to cart traffic. I understand from a safety standpoint the reason but it makes it tough when it is a 95 degree day to shuffle back and forth to the cart on such a hilly hole. If you play the correct tees this course is fair and I will play here again.
