Got invited to see the new Skybrook — it just reopened last week after closing for renovations for 2 months. The new Bermuda greens are awesome — I was very impressed with how they rolled and how receptive they were. With so many Charlotte courses going Bermuda, I’ve gotten used to the nuances of the grass and these were excellent. They were surprisingly quick too for new greens. They are still growing in the collar Bermuda which will be slightly different than the greens. It should be a nice touch. With 2 months to grow in the new greens, the staff also resodded and fixed some fairway issues. Holes #1 and #6 were typically cart path only but are now good to go. No changes to the layout or the contours of the greens. So it’s still the same course, which I’ve always liked. The clubhouse renovations included a redo of the restaurant with all new big screen TV’s and also outdoor patio seating. These changes should make it a great place to hang out after your round. Skybrook is well on its way back to the Top 10 public courses in Charlotte.
