As usual, the 45 minute drive to Eagle Chase did not disappoint. Once this course greens up, it’s the best kept secret in the area. mini verde greens were fast, true and in great shape. Bunkers were all excellent as well as the tee boxes. Once the fairways grow in it should be mint. Love this track.
Thanks for your review. I need to get back out to Eagle Chase. I reviewed it a few years ago and noted that the cart paths were in very bad shape, with tree roots raising them up in many areas. Has anything been done in this regard? Also, my local course, Lincoln Country Club, is planning to put in Diamond Zoysia greens in a few months. I had told people that the only Diamond Zoysia greens that I have played on are at Eagle Chase. Are you certain that they are Mini Verde? Thanks,Bob
eagle chase is diamond. They will take a year after installation to stick. The first year they were hard as a rock like red bridge (mini verde) after the following summers airefication they started to hold shots. Also with these types of greens they will punch (with small tines and top dress every monday or every other monday) when the weather starts to get hot. The sand is usually gone by tues/wed completely. They are still puttable after they water it in. Before I moved out of state I would play this course every wed because it “was” the best kept secret in charlotte (because no one wanted to drive out that far). Always had the course to myself at 730 am.
