Running down to the south side of Charlotte next week for a conference Wed-Friday. Looking for a course thats in good shape for this time of year. Not familiar with the area or how courses fair in the winter months. Appreciate in advance.

On the south side, the best courses within 20-30 minutes will be: Springfield, Fort Mill, Carolina Lakes, or Tega Cay. A little further out but still fairly close: Waterford, Stonebridge, Emerald Lake or Olde Sycamore. All of these should be in good shape, especially on the greens. Now the tees and fairways will all be dormant Bermuda grass, but should be fine to play on.

My most recent round / review was from Emerald Lake a week ago. Fast, difficult greens if you like that sort of thing. :-D
