Olde Sycamore is now one of the more dependable public courses for conditions and rates. It is a fun layout where you don't need driver off the tee very often and I've played it for over 2 decades. So it feels like an old friend when I get back here to play. The greens...
Alright guys- If you were to enjoy a 36 hole Saturday what 2 courses in the Charlotte area would you play?
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
Taking proximity into account to maximize daylight, I’d probably go Rocky River and Skybrook as the best quality pair that are pretty close to each other. Good food at both to grab lunch in between rounds as well.
Lots of good pairings I can suggest.
Rocky River with Skybrook/Tradition/Highland Creek – as cswan14 suggested
Rock Barn/River Oaks (or Verdict Ridge)
Eagle Chase/Red Bridge (or Monroe CC)
Springfield/Fort Mill
Stonebridge/Monroe CC
Mooresville/Birkdale
Edgewater/Carolina Lakes (or Lancaster)
Warrior/Sapona
Deer Brook/River Bend (in Shelby – can also hit Cleveland CC or Cleghorn Plantation, even Lincolnton CC)
Charlotte National/The Divide (or Emerald Lake)
Awesome! Thank you guys very much!
I think I’m leaning between rocky river/sky brook or emerald lakes/charlotte national! I haven’t played emerald lakes or charlotte national yet so perhaps that would be a fun day!
Loved Charlotte National…I need to make my way back there. Emerald Lakes came up during a recent round and heard it was in decent shape, which was good to hear since I haven’t been back for years after a horrendous experience with conditions last time I was out there.
Thanks for that! I’ll have to do charlotte national for sure then. How long ago did you have your horrendous experience at Emerald?
The Divide is a nearby alternative to Emerald Lake. It has a TopTracer range. You could also pair Charlotte National with Eagle Chase (only about 15 min apart), which would be my recommendation.
