Thanks for the update! One of my favorite area courses and happy to hear that they are putting in the time/money to make that place great again, looking forward to playing it in the upcoming months

went back to play one last round before i move out of state. after 2 days of down pours this course was almost dry. greens were slick but fair. tees and fairways in great shape. some bunkers did have water in them but ones that didn't were raked. the rough was very tough. since they have tightened some of the fairways put away the driver and play for position. the ball will sit down in it but you should be in the fairway anyway. found a lot of shag balls just off the fairways today. great test of golf. i'm glad someone bought it out a few years ago and invested in it.

They verticut and sand the greens every monday morning. greens in great shape and consistent (tad on the slow side but its not fun putting on glass all the time). The rough is deep but that's what they do in the summer (have played here for over 10 years). Fairways in great shape could have been mowed today but I think they do that on tuesdays. Bunkers I were in were fluffy but others do tend to wash out. This is the first time I would complain on the proshop. 2 4somes were late for their tee time (710am and 720am) and back the rest of us up. We were a 2some that was supposed to tee off at 730 and didn't till almost 750am. somethings wrong with that when we were all in the shop at the same time. excuse was "they always play on monday and thats what they do". well we always play on wed and are 1/2 early and that's what we do. your late u forfeit your tee time especially when faster players are behind u. . I guess its time to move on. We tried to play through but they just looked at us so we jumped ahead to 14 (play started on 10) and finished our round on 13.

I go in with low expectations every time I play this course. Overall it was better than expected. Greens had some issues but the pins were away from them. speed was consistent and fair. It's too bad no one fixes ball marks. 3 people were in front of us (we had a 7am tee time) and fresh ball marks were left on the greens. pure laziness. FAIRWAYS HAD GRASS. it was nice to not have the club bounce. few bunkers had sand and tee boxes were in good shape. All in all it was in good shape compared to some other places this year.

Greens were fast and tough. cups cut on slopes killed our group. Always a good test off golf. my only complaint is the fairways being cut so tight. with a steep downswing my club bounced all day.

found out they verticut every monday. Greens were slower then normal but it seems the norm. when u put across the cut hit the putt a touch harder. if you putt with the cut it's quicker. didn't really effect play once i figured this out. tee to green was in great great shape as were the bunkers.

Greens starting to show stress (they were verticuting today. very slow (more then normal) putting across the cut. fairways starting to get thin and hard. Still a good value just couldn't putt today. pace of play slowed to a crawl on the back side with 2 foresomes in front of us that seemed to like the woods.

it was like it never rained last week. green grass coming in on fairways was nice. windy day made it tough to score but it was a good day on the course. greens were soft enough to hold high shots. love this place.

haven't played this course in over 5 years due to the owner and his buddies playing in a 6some and never let us play through (2some). thought we would give it a try again since we were told they punched greens the first week of march. yeah not so much. greens still a month away from healing. to bad the ranger that was there a long time ago wasn't working they could have used one. there wasn't a hole that at least 3 groups were waiting to hit. the guys behind us hit into our group 4 out of 5 holes asked them what there rush was as they could see no one was going anywhere (the clubhouse did fix this for us when we let them know what was going on). not a biased review just golf but right now spend your money elsewhere. greens - D tees/fairways - D cart path on many holes very swampy bunkers - D no one rakes anymore clubhouse - A it's nice from the trailer but time to invest in the course.

fairways being green were a nice change of pace. the new greens were very slow and I couldn't read a putt for the life of me (most were straight but i couldn't believe it). Saw breaks that weren't there. for some reason i like to believe that 485 effects the wind around number 11 green. for some reason I am always a club short on that hole. anyway this course is a good play right now too bad a 6some was let out in the am to slow everyone up.

I can't wait till the green grass grows in. It looked like they were starting to use pre emrge to get it going. Greens in one word awesome everything else was brown. Bunkers were raked. Can't beat a free birthday round on an 80 degree spring day!!!

Course in great shape. Greens will hold a high shot but one with a lower trajectory not so much. The bite gets better with these greens when warmer (like red bridge) weather is around. The only issue today which is rare was a 3some that was 30 minutes late was put in front of us 2 minutes before our tee time and took 30 minutes (we timed them) to play the 1st hole. It was bad to watch. we finally skipped a hole to pass them because whenever we got close enough to ask they would take off. Like I said it was rare but golf etiquette is a thing of the past. Word of advice its winter pick up if you are at triple bogey or worse.

greens A+, fairways very thin, bunkers were playable, the ball will sit down in the rough buddy lost a ball 10 feet off of #7 green never to be seen again, tees were in good shape. pace of play was horrible the 2 groups in front of us were no match for the tees they played from. at one point there was 5 groups on one hole #13. Pins were in very tough spots no flat putts today. When there is an almost full tee sheet there should be a ranger roaming around the course.

The greens were great. Haven't played here in 5 years because the greens were always horrible. Now that being said it's too bad the rest of the course is just average or maybe they are getting ready to overseed. Tee boxes were barren. #9 gold was a beach. The rest patchy at best. Fairways were very thin and lots of weeds except for a few holes but it would have been nice to hit from some grass. That's why I tried to play from the rough. Bunkers were soft. $26 was a great deal but I think the rest of east charlotte showed up. Must have been a full tee sheet on a wed and it played like it. 4 hours for a twosome is too long. Waited on every shot. It may be another year or 2 before I go back and play, in the afternoon. Always hated the first hole with it next to the clubhouse and the loud social hour that commences behind you while you tee off.

Tough mountain golf at its best. see message board posting about my round. It took so long as a twosome do to not knowing the course. took a little over an hour and a half to get there. play a replay round if you want to score better. It would have been a perfect score if the fairways were mowed (it caused the ball to get no roll out and plug a lot). Saw no other players besides to another twosome the whole day.

white tees chewed up, fairways great shape, rough ball will sit down in certain areas but fair, some greens showing summer stress but pins were away from these areas. suprisingly not a lot of ball marks even though the greens were soft. bunkers raked and had soft sand. play here once or twice a year due to distance. good value except at 1130am the snack bar had 1 hot dog (still raw) going with at least 10 buns in the machine. eagle chase still has the best dogs.

Finally grass in the fairways kept me from thin shots. rough is getting thick in spots. some greens with a little sand on them but didn't affect the putts. #12 is getting better. bunkers being worked on due to rain. Still a great value.

got caught in a down pour for 30 minutes but the greens drained well. fairways got a little sloppy in the low areas. greens still showing punch marks and the ball bounced off line a few times. fairways still thin and i don't think this will ever change due to the direction golf courses are headed these days saving water. pins were in some tough spots that I haven't seen before.

fairways hard and fast, clubs will bounce. green speed medium but consistent. This course has come back and holding up against the 90 degree elements. 4.5 for me just because i like a little grass under the ball in the fairway.

I remember the days of pulling in the parking lot and 1 car being there. I'm glad the new owners made the green change. This will be year 2 of the new greens and there are no complaints here just fast very fast. bunkers great shape (repairing one on 14). red bridge went up to $37 here still $28. can't beat the price. Wally the head pro is great. fairways greening up. looks like the cart paths are going to be the next project.

wow this course will be awesome once spring hits. you can tell money was invested in saving it. this was always my "home" course but stayed away last year while the redid the greens. fantastic greens. they held high wedge shots very well. they were fast too. many 3 putts on the front side but figured out speed as the round went on. Bunkers in great shape very little water if any. fairways still brown and thin but with warm weather on the way in a few weeks that will be taken care of. as in other posts very little wet areas around the course (low lying around the drains). clickit has a $19 deal going on right now for any day any time. take advantage of it.

Everything has browned out now since it is that time of the year. Bunkers were full of soft sand (was in only 1). Fairways and tee boxes are showing the normal wear and tear. Most greens were in great condition others a little chewed up (around the edges). They were fast. I like this course in the winter time. The greens always seem to be in better condition (type of grass on the greens). The wind was up but only affected a few shots which I was surprised by. They have repaired the cart paths around the course.

Amazing. just amazing. This was a course that i would play all the time spring and fall but forget about the summer greens would always die. What a value. i have waited a long time for this course to redo the greens and its nothing short of awesome. i like that they have also fixed some contours on 3,12, and 16 because my ball would always spin off those 3 greens. will have to relearn the greens since i have stayed away for so long. Fresh sand in the bunkers. new tee box on 12 makes it more playable. love the course. i have always liked tom jackson designs too.

I live 10 minutes from this course and haven't played it since 2008 because it was always in poor shape. Gave it a try after seeing some reviews and boy it has changed. The fairways were dry (looks like they have invested in drainage. bunkers didn't have rocks in them anymore (was in a few) and were soft and smooth. greens rolled fast and true only 16 had a bad area but the flag was no where near it. all in all a good value at this time of year.

only second time I have given a course a 5. New ownership, friendly staff, tee to green plush. Couple of bounces did not go my way which killed me on the par 5's. Sand was smooth to hit out of and looks like they are making a new tee box on 11 left of cart path on the hill.

The heat is now taking it's toll on the greens. I love playing here, but stay away during July and August because the heat just beats up the greens. I decided to give it a try since we have had so much rain lately. The greens held very well but after reaching the first green I knew I was in for a 2 putt max on each hole. Some had weeds growing others were burning up. Bunkers were shot but I think it rained the night before. Fairways, tees, and rough were all in great shape. With all that said I was told that they do have new owners who may install mini verde greens next year, fix the bunkers, and repair the cart paths that so many people complain about. I hope they do. Wally and his team are top notch and kudos to the staff for trying to keep the greens alive, but alas it's time for change. Bent grass just can't survive the heat we get for 2 months. Will be back in Sept.

It has been awhile since i have played this course (because of the drive). Awesome shape from tee to green. Best I've played this year. They will aerify june 11/12. I think a lot of courses are shaping up right now because of the lower temps which is great for us golfers.

Don't play here to often but had a good round and the course was in pretty good shape. It looks like a lot of the tee boxes were replanted and are coming in nicely. Last time I was here they we almost gone. Fairways a little thin but from what I remember they were always like that. Bunkers in good shape even though I managed to stay out of them. Overall a good bet to play right now.

Had to go back after the good experience we had last time. With clickit deal and $10 off coupon paid only $21. Golf course was still in great shape for being the end of summer only the greens are starting to show the wear of unfixed ball marks. It's sad that something so easily fixable by us golfers is so forgotten (laziness). Too bad it takes over an hour to get there, so looks like we will be back next year.

I normally do not give 5 stars for any course, but going off previous reviews we had to check this course out. Greens in great shape especially when they hold long and short iron shots into them (had a ball suck back 29 ft), fairways had some run to them, rough an average height, driving range (free balls),practice green speed was the same as on the course (very rare at most golf courses), free bottled water available on course, clubhouse staff friendly. The rate drop as well as a clickit discount deal made it a no brainer. you will not find a better public course in this condition at this time of year anywhere.

If you played this course last year before the greens were lost you will understand why the trees came down. We play this course every thurs morning. can't beat the clickit deal or the way you are treated at the course from the pro shop to fellow golfers letting the faster groups play through. We've played other courses in the area but nothing touches the value you get at eagle chase. we drive 45 minutes away from the city for this reason.
