Course is usually junk and overpriced. When you see a good post about this course I suspect it is an employee trying to sucker some rounds of golf. Go to Emerald Lake, Old Sycamore or Charlotte...

Best course I know of after heavy rain. Greens are not smooth - bumpy, kind of like Torrey Pines in the 2008 Open - well, maybe that's a bit over the top. Anyway, pace was good after getting beyond a walking 2-some with no clue. Fairways good for this time of year. Cart paths still miserable. Still, overall, love the course.

Rained most of the prior day so the course was soaked. Greens were excellent all things considered along with the tee boxes. All of the traps were mini ponds and there was a lot of standing water on the course. No rain covers on the carts for your clubs and the carts must be stored outside because they needed to be wiped down on the interior before we could sit in them. I'm really nit picking and giving a heads up to anyone think about playing here after it rains. Still enjoyed the round and this is still one of my favorite courses because of location and price, but stay away if there is rain.

First time playing this course and I wasn't disappointed. Course seemed to be in good shape for this time of the year. Tee Boxes and greens were in excellent shape. Fairways are basically dormant for this time of the year, which makes finding the ball a bit difficult. Roughs chewed up a few of our balls today. Only gripe about the course were the bunkers. Atleast 5-7 of the bunkers had stagnant water. Very few bunker had real sand. Also, did not appreciate the 5 hr pace.

This winter Larkhaven has by far the best fairways, and some of the best greens. While most fairways are now brown and thin, theirs are somehow very green and lush. On a beautiful day with a morning frost delay and good rates, it was understandably crowded and backed up, our 12:58 group didn't tee off till 1:30 and we were on the 17th when it got too dark to see (turns out I play better when I can't see!). Great variety of holes on the layout. My only complaint is that overscheduling seems to be chronic - I hadn't played there for several years because of that. B-Man's Golf, IMO, is the best local guide to Charlotte golf, and I have enjoyed your reviews for several years, so thank you! Time to give back, so I finally registered and this is my first review.

This course is in good shape right now. This is a good course to play when the weather has been wet. The whole course just seems to drain well. I have nothing bad to say about this course really except for a couple of personal issues. The greens are hard (especially the front 9) and the greens are fast (faster then most). If this stuff doesnt bother you consider giving this course a try, especially just after wet weather. Your day will be less soggy and you can probably avoid a cart path only day that you would have a another golf course.

had lots of rain yesterday so it was soft and cart path only but course was still in pretty good shape. lots of dead, wet bermuda but greens still rolled good, bunkers in very good shape, overall not bad for this time of year. I am not a big fan of this course but there isnt any reason that i wouldnt recommend it to someone to play.

I don't like "cons" and therefore want to call these guys out! Advertisement says "$185 for 10 rounds, 10 range tokens and 10 lessons....a value of over $1800 bucks!" BS- Add $230 more dollars to play (mandatory cart fee); the "lesson" is 5-10 minutes. What you end of getting is 10 rounds + a small bucket of range balls for $41.50 + tax.

This golf course is in pretty good shape. Even though my score didn’t reflect it, it is one of the easier golf courses in the area. I got a couple complaints though. The sand traps are way low on sand. It rained two days ago and most of the sand traps are still full of water. The greens are hard as a rock. They had a number of their ground workers out on the course doing I don’t know what. I only caught one of the actually working once. Just about every hole on the front 9 they was wanting to drive down the hole we were playing. (They were just driving around and never seen them working). It was disturbing.

Course is in decent shape considering the time of the year. Fairways definitely look worn and the tee boxes had a bunch of bare spots and both could use some repair. Roughs were cut a bit high and its easy to lose balls especially since they are all dried out. Greens however were in great shape. Only drawback was that they were cut short and putting was very fast. Overall I would rate it a B+ and would recommend.

Thanksgiving - was going to be a shotgun, but with literally <10 people playing, told to just go off the 1st. Playing single, catch a tractor blowing leaves on second green. Mind you - blowing leaves, NOT setting pins. Wait 5 minutes. 3rd green - same. 4th - same...you get the picture. The guy clearly saw me waiting, never pulled to the side to let me through. 9th green, he's at the back, I hit to the front, my ball about 15 feet from the pin. By the time I get up to the green, my ball is nowhere to be found! When I asked in the pro shop who has the right of way - a leaf blower or a golfer - was told it was the leaf blower. Won't be back for a while.

Course is in good shape. The over-seeding on the tee boxes have helped as they were in dire need of repair. Fairway are showing signs of fall wear, but not too bad. I really like the new Mini-Verde greens as they don't mark up easy. But they are also very hard and you're lucky to stop any balls. Putting was really hard as the greens were cut down to almost nothing. It took us a good 9 holes to adjust to the speed. For the most part it felt like putting on glass. Pace of play wasn't too bad.

I've always enjoyed this layout and the course is in pretty good shape right now. The tees should be mowed as they are a bit like rough but the fairways are pretty nice and the greens roll true. There are a few greens with spots but the putts really roll out. The one caution I will give is to stay away from this course on Mondays. We were playing directly behind the owner who apparently sets up a skins match every Monday for a lot of his friends. He was playing in a 5-some and refused to let us through so it was close to a 5 hour round. Good course but stay away on Mondays unless you want to be frustrated. If I were a golf course owner I would certainly pay more attention to the guests as opposed to my friends.

Fantastic course, probably one of my best rounds too. Yes, the fairways are thin and it can be trouble if you're wayward, but you are rewarded if you keep it fairly close to the fairway. Only a couple gripes...leaves everywhere, I lost one and nearly lost another just because of all the leaves...it's fall, so I can't fault the course...but all the same. It's a little costly too, 49$ seems a bit much for an afternoon tee time, but it is what it is. You get some good bang for your buck though, some very scenic shots and it is very very quiet. Definitely one of the courses you should play.

The course was in good shape for this time of year as the fairways are starting to go dormant. The greens were very fast, they looked liked they had been punched recently, but they still rolled smoothly. I had a free pass from points collected on GolfNow so nay free round is enjoyable. Pace od play was good 4 hours. This was the 3rd time I played this course and I forgot I how hard the last 4 holes are. Frankly, I do not care for any of the last 4 holes. All the fairways are crowned and two of greens are blind. In reality the terrain is too rugged and is not suited for a golf hole. The only other knock on this scenic beauty is the 3 out of 4 par 3's from the blue tees are all the same length long 195 yards. I prefer more of variety. Therefore I typically play the whites on only the par 3's thus giving me 7 iron on one, 9, 6, and 5. I do not like hitting a hybrid on almost every par 3. One last note with the expansion of route 16 to 4 lanes and completion of I485 - it is short 20 minutes from Charlotte now.

Perfect. If I want to be picky, SOME of the fairways are thin. Otherwise, perfect. Played the course 4 times this year from late March to now and the greens were awesome each time. They punched the greens 4 weeks ago and we played about 7 days after and they offered us a reduced rate of $25 for the trouble. No trouble, greens were still great. Great staff

Played the Divide this morning, the course was in good shape, the greens were much better than all of the reviews I had been reading lately, so I didn't really see any of the issues that people had been talking about. A few did have some minor issues, but that was only 2 of them. Other than that, the course was in good shape. That is all for now.

Greens were pretty good considering some of the others I have seen lately. They weren't the best condition I've seen them in but still rolling pretty true. Fairways and tee boxes were ok as well. Nothing to complain about there. The only gripe I have with Emerald Lakes, as always, is that they charge $6 for a small handfull of range balls. Most of which are lacking dimples. I also noticed a lot of divots on the course and when I reached for my sand bottle on my cart, both were completely empty. Not doing themselves any favors there!!!

First time Fox Den and it was a treat. Paid $36 for a Sunday morning round. Tee time was at 9am and no one was in front of us. Matter of fact there were probably only 5 or 6 cars in the parking lot. Overall the course was in great condition, the greens were rolling well, and the rough was moderate. One knock is people need to repair their ball marks, I probably repaired three or four on every hole. Love the layout it is has a good mix of elevation change that give you a mountain course feel and the back 9 has more of a coastal layout. Beer is cheap, paid $5 for 2 beers. I'll definitely be back and hopefully will have a similar experience.

Everything was above average and made for a great day of golf. Excellent value! Greens were slightly marked up; however, it isn' the course's fault. People need to fix their ballmarks! All in all, it is definately worth playing if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive round.

I'm not a fan of leaving negative feedback on anything, but I was really frustrated by the end of this round. Let me start off by saying the COURSE is beautiful and well maintained; my problem is with the administration. We had three people with us and a fourth was placed with us (standard practice, no problem there). We started at 12:20 and but did not finish until nearly 5:30. The pace was so slow, we had to wait almost 5 minutes before teeing off on each hole. We ended up having three (maybe even four, not sure) groups on hole 16. When we started we were talking with the starter and the marshall was right there, in the whole round we only saw him one other time, and that was at the 4th hole. We would have liked to see him again towards the end to pick up the pace a bit. I'll end this with the same disclaimer as before, I've only been playing for a year, so maybe this is standard for a beautiful fall day, but it was very different for me. Again, the course was in excellent condition, but maybe they were just a bit too ambitious with the booking. One last note, this is a TOUGH course (probably contributing to the pace). Keep this in mind if you are relatively new, you may want to tee up further than normal.
