Description: Tega Cay is a unique 27-hole golf club just south of NC-SC border off I-77 near Rock Hill, SC. You can play any combination of the 3 nine-hole layouts and make 3 different rounds out of it. All three layouts have many elevation changes and scenic views of the Lake Wylie area. With a huge clubhouse and event pavilion, it is a great place for golf outings.
Notes: The 3 nines are called Grande View (GV), Carolina Pines (CP), and the Cove. Grande View is the newest and most challenging nine. Rates are discounted for residents of Tega Cay.
B-Man's Take: Finally played my first round back at this course (May '07) since '99. It did seem familiar, especially on the Grande View nine, which was brand new when I first played it. This course is fun to play for its variety of holes and required shots, as well as its uniqueness compared to most area courses. The holes have many elevation changes, beautiful scenery, and challenging hazards that require some daunting carries over water. The layout includes 27 holes, though I've never played the Cove nine. The Grande View nine begins and ends with a picturesque par 4 with an approach over water. It also has a cool downhill par 3 where the tee is elevated some 100 feet or so. What drove me somewhat nuts about this course, though, was the lack of yardage markers and any kind of hole description or picture. Most nicer courses have the course well marked with sprinkler heads and/or picture placards on the tee boxes. There were several blind shots and hazards in play where knowing the yardages to the trouble would have helped immensely. I hit at least 3 great tee shots in one round that ended up lost or in trouble. So, it pays to play your first round here with a Tega Cay veteran. All in all, this is a course I'd recommend you try to see if you like it. Look for the best rate using a foursome coupon.
